Jaypee sports city:- To ease traffic pressure and reduce snarls between Noida and Delhi via the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway, the city administration is proposing to begin widening work on three bridges across Shahdara drain by next month.
According to a senior government official, the Public Works department (PWD) along with the irrigation and flood control department will start the work on the ambitious project that is estimated to cost about Rs 55 crore to the state exchequer. The project is likely to commence from the first week of October.
The project will concentrate on the widening of the bridges at Sectors 16A-18, Sectors 14-14 A the one near Okhla Barrage. Segment technique is said to be employed during the construction and widening of these bridges, which would help in managing the flow of traffic in an efficient manner, causing least disruption. The DND Flyway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway help in managing the heavy flow of traffic during the peak hours and prove to be a relief to commuters shuttling between Delhi and Noida. However, at Shahdara drain, the path becomes highly congested due to the lesser width of the drain bridge.
“The tender for the reconstruction work for the three bridges was finalized by the Delhi’s lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung during a high level committee recently. Once the widening of the bridges is completed, connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi would be enhanced significantly.” the official said.
The traffic jam along the six-kilometer Shahdara drain increases between 9 am and 11 am in the morning and between 6 pm and 8 pm in the evening. The snarl occurs as almost 10-12 lanes of traffic converge into just two lanes on the bridges. This could spell a major relief for thousands of commuters shuttling between Delhi and Noida. for more info about residential and commercial property in noida visit jaypee sports city projects.
